Born from Compassion
Pathways to self-suffiency. This has been at the core of Wilkinson Center’s mission since it was founded in 1982 at Munger Place United Methodist Church. Fellow East Dallas neighbors were going hungry right in the church’s backyard, and, in response, the Food Pantry was born.
Today Wilkinson Center is an independent nonprofit, and we are still feeding our neighbors, now in locations across Dallas. Thanks to the caring and generous support of people like you, we have significantly expanded our services to help families build pathways out of poverty for good, using a formula of Food+Education+Jobs. In addition to Emergency Services like food and rent assistance, we also provide life-changing Adult Education, Employment and Financial Coaching services.
Our greatest hope would be to someday work ourselves out of a job. But, as Mayor Rawlings has said, “Dallas is the poorest rich city in the United States,” with poverty growing and spreading into surrounding suburbs. With your help, Wilkinson Center will be here for the long haul to take
