Food Assistance

Wilkinson Center provides food assistance using a client choice model where families select food items and receive an amount based on their family’s household size. Families receive fresh produce, dry goods, protein, and perishable items. Families can visit the Pantry once a month.

  • Our Client Choice Pantry is available by appointment only for returning clients. New clients can come in as a walk-in client during our hours of operation.   • Hours are Monday and Wednesday from 9AM–12PM and Tuesday from 1PM–4PM. Nuestro horario es Lunes y Miércoles de 9:00am a 12:00pm y los Martes de 1:00pm a 4:00pm.
  • We serve families living in the following zip codes: 75217, 75227, and 75228. Atendemos a familias que viven en los siguientes códigos postales: 75217, 75227 y 75228.
  • Current Food Pantry Clients (you have visited the pantry within the last 12 months) please select the link below for available food pantry appointments.
    • Current Food Pantry Client (you have visited the pantry within the last 12 months).
    • New clients (never visited the pantry or more than 12 months since your last visit) do not need an appointment for their first visit, first come first served and we do have a limit on new client intakes. Please bring proof of address (e.g. electric/water/gas bill, or current lease), information on all household members (e.g. birth certificates/picture ID/vaccine/school records with date of birth). Documents can be in a digital format.

Pantry2Go

Pantry2Go is a mobile food truck that distributes food to families that otherwise would not have access to the Food Pantry. Pantry2Go distributes produce, shelf-stable, and perishable items.

The current distribution locations are:

  • George Truett Elementary School (open to parents at the school)
  • Dallas College West Dallas Center

Transforming Mind & Body Program – TMB

The transforming Mind & Body program with Wilkinson Center continuously engages clients to transform their Mind & Body!

If you are interested in the following:

  • Financial coaching
  • Health, nutrition, and wellness education information
  • Once-a-month cooking classes
  • Mindfulness skills
  • Access to healthy foods

Senior’s Program

The Senior’s program is available to seniors ages 60 and over and is open to Dallas County residents. There are no zip code restrictions. Senior resources include:

  • Senior Lunch and Learns are monthly workshops on topics based on interests and needs. Guest speakers present information while seniors enjoy a light lunch and gain valuable resources.
  • People and Nutrition (PAN) provides an additional 28 pounds of food per month. Seniors must meet income guidelines set by the USDA.
  • Financial coaching is available to help seniors with budgeting, introduction to banking products, connection to resources, and goal setting. Coaching sessions are provided one-on-one, and the client sets goals.

Benefits Screening and Referrals

Wilkinson Center in partnership with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) assists individuals with applying for the following government benefits: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Medicare Savings Plan and Medicaid. A representative from NTFB is on-site on Mondays (excluding observed holidays) from 9AM – 12PM. No appointment necessary.

Food Pantry Donations

Food and Support Services have been at the core of Wilkinson Center services since our genesis at Munger Place United Methodist Church. Support our efforts by donating food and personal hygiene items to our food pantry.
