Wilkinson Center is looking for food pantry volunteers to assist pantry clients as they shop for food, unload food (if necessary) as it arrives onsite, and sort and bag food ready for distribution, among other duties. - Volunteer hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:00AM to 12:00PM - Buckner Food Pantry – 3402 N. Buckner Blvd., Dallas Responsibilities: - Welcome clients and donors; assist in carrying donations into building. - Organize and sort donations; keep donation areas clean and clear. - Prepare food bags for distribution to clients. - Monitor public areas for cleanliness and order. - Help clients carry items out of pantry if necessary. - Work with staff and clients to maintain a safe environment for all. Requirements: - Be punctual for all scheduled tutoring sessions. It is your responsibility to notify us as soon as possible if you cannot meet with your students. - Complete and hand in all required paperwork (volunteer application, background check, interview and site visit). Qualifications: - Unsupervised volunteers must be at least 16 years old. (Parental consent required for volunteers under 18 years of age.) - Must possess the physical ability to carry, sort and stock food. - Responsible, dependable, honest, and mature. - Friendly, patient, and sensitive to a diversity of students.
OUR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR WILL BEGIN IN LATE AUGUST. OUR SUMMER PROGRAM BEGINS JUNE 4TH! Wilkinson Center is looking for volunteers to provide individual and small group tutoring to students in our after-school program. Tutoring is a supplement to classroom teaching. Tutors are not expected to know everything about the subject for which they tutor. - CLIMB hours: Monday through Thursday, 3:00PM to 6:00PM - Volunteer hours: Monday through Thursday, 3:00PM to 4:30PM - Location: CLIMB is held at five east/southeast Dallas-area locations. Responsibilities: - Meet with students during CLIMB hours to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. - Review class material, discuss the text, predict test questions, formulate ideas for papers, work on solutions to problems, etc. Requirements: - Be punctual for tutoring sessions. CLIMB Summer Camp Mentors and Chaperones - Session Two: (July 9th – August 3rd) - Locations: CLIMB location in southeast Dallas - Days: Monday – Friday: 9AM to 2PM - Chaperone Days: generally Thursday Mentor Description: - Assist students with curriculum, arts and crafts, and other enrichment activities, including weekly field trips. Chaperone Description: - Supervise small groups of children, and account for all children regularly and before changing activities. - Make sure children adhere to rules and standards of behavior, safety rules, and any site-specific rules. Some Wilkinson Center’s administrative/office support is on an ‘as needed’ basis. Check in often for updated volunteer needs! Days open: Monday – Thursday: 10AM – 5PM; Friday: 9AM – 1PM Location: Administrative Office (Uptown Dallas) Office support - Provide office support based on the needs of the admin office, including: filing, data entry, organization, as well as project-based activities. Volunteer support - Support volunteer coordinator with recruitment, interviews, database management, and end-of-the-year volunteer appreciation luncheon. Volunteer photographer - Photograph our various programs and clients to create a database of photos to be used for marketing purposes. Also, photograph our various events we have throughout the year. (Can work around the schedule of the photographer.)
